Mental Health Resource Centre - Youth & Adolescent Issues
 
 

Common issues affecting young people include low self esteem and depression, image, relationship problems, anger, bullying, sexuality, motivation and eating problems.

The aim of these pages is to provide a resource centre, primarily of links to sites related to Mental Health, with a particular emphasis on Mental Health needs in Surrey. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to email them to me.

A national charity providing support and advice for parents bringing up children after a break-up, resolving conflict in families, coping with a new baby or needing advice about bringing up teenagers.


Samaritans, The Samaritans is a registered charity based in the UK and Republic of Ireland that provides confidential emotional support to any person who is suicidal or despairing; and that increases public awareness of issues around suicide and depression.

Surrey CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service)
CAMHS is a partnership between Surrey County Council, Surrey’s Primary Care Trust and NHS delivery trusts for mental health and voluntary organisations.

Surrey County Council Website - Directory of Children's service agencies in Surrey including mental health and voluntary organisations.


Teen Help Website providing confidential support for teenagers covering all issues. Included are teenage forums and articles with help and advice. There is also an email service,  aiming to answer specific questions a young person may have.


Telephone Helplines Association, The Telephone Helplines Association works with helplines to ensure that callers receive the highest quality response. See this site for important information about calling helplines or search their online database of over 1000 helplines. THA members are clearly marked.

UK Self Help Directory A web-site providing the phone numbers of over 760 UK self help groups and over 600 hyperlinks.


Young Minds, YoungMinds the children's mental health charity. Offers booklets for young people worried about self-injury, a bi-monthly newsletter, and other leaflets.


Youth 2 Youth A site for young people by young people. Has telephone/e-mail helpline, links to other useful sites, examples of some common problems - emotional health, body image, relationships etc.
